Critical Incident Stress Management ..

Communities have been impacted in extraordinary measures these past few years, and people are having an extremely hard time keeping up with the catastrophic aftermath.

I understand the extraordinary abilities required to respond to the health and safety of others. Providing exceptional care during a crisis is reliant on a persons psychosocial well-being. The anxiety, stress, fear, and associated feelings experienced by people during challenging times are real, and justifiable. To mitigate and respond to the psychological toll of crises, it is critical that individuals, agencies, and organizations have systems in place that support longevity and individual resilience within the workplace and at home.

Critical Incident Stress Management is a resilience building program, which involves psychological crisis intervention as a means to foster resilience. It is a short-term helping process designed to stabilize and mitigate acute psychological distress. Intervention can be implemented individually or in groups, and is focused on targeting the response, not the event. The objective is to support people through their responses and keep them functioning so they are able to return to work, look after their children, or any other responsibilities they may have.

The hardest thing to do is ask for help.

A retired career firefighter, trauma coach, educator, speaker, and author with firsthand understanding of the impacts traumatic events have on brain health.

Job related injuries of a psychological nature are very common among first responders. However what are rarely addressed are the psychological injuries from workplace harassment, bullying and discrimination.

Peer support has become essential for fostering healthy careers across emergency services, community service organizations, agencies, and beyond. Building strong coping mechanisms and support systems helps reduce psychological injury-related absences and contributes to longer, more sustainable careers.

With a blend of certifications, personal experience, and advanced education, the goal is to provide empowering tools, resilience-building skills, and valuable knowledge to support yourself and others. There is strength in knowledge and in numbers—we're not meant to take this journey alone!

TESTIMONIALS

Lynnette did an excellent job of exploring the information we needed, she presented and adapted to our very new skill set while validating the life experiences we were bringing to the table. Highly recommend it for students both within the fire service and other industries and agencies.
